Lady Pacers back to #3 just prior to showdown with Clayton St

LILBURN, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team moved up one spot to third in the seventh 2012-13 regular-season USA Today/ESPN Division II top-25 Coaches' Poll.

The Pacers had been ranked fifth in the preseason and first regular-season poll. In the second regular-season poll, USC Aiken moved up to fourth before claiming the ranking of third in the third regular-season poll. The Pacers had been ranked a program-best third in the fourth and fifth regular-season polls before dropping one spot to fourth in the sixth regular-season poll.

Since being ranked for the first time in the 2010-11 season on Dec. 14, 2010, USC Aiken has now been ranked in the top-25 in the last 35 polls (school-record). The Pacers have been ranked in the top-10 in each of the last three years.

The Pacers are currently one of only six unbeaten in NCAA Division II women’s basketball.

USC Aiken and Clayton State are scheduled to tip-off their top-5 showdown at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16 at the Convocation Center. The contest will be the first top-5 showdown in program history.

The nationally third-ranked USC Aiken women’s basketball team welcomes nationally fourth-ranked Clayton State (13-0, 6-0 PBC) owning a perfect 12-0 (5-0 PBC) record in the 2012-13 season.

The Pacers are currently off to the best start in program history and their 12th straight win over Montevallo this past Saturday tied the program record for most consecutive victories. The 2011-12 Pacers won 12 straight games from Nov. 12, 2011-Jan. 16, 2012.
