Lady Pacers are No. 5 seed in NCAA Southeast Regional

INDIANAPOLIS – The University of South Carolina Aiken women’s basketball team will be the fifth seed in the 2013 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional at Clayton State.

The regional will take place Friday, March 15-Monday, March 18. The tournament will feature four quarterfinal games on Friday and two semifinal games on Saturday.

The championship game will be on Monday. Times and further information will be announced in the coming days.

USC Aiken will take on Lenoir-Rhyne (19-9) in the quarterfinals on Friday. USC Aiken owns a 7-1 all-time series advantage over Lenoir-Rhyne with the two teams last meeting in the 2010-11 season.

The Pacers and Bears are on the same side of the bracket as host institution and region No. 1 Clayton State and eighth-seeded Mount Olive. The winner of the USC Aiken-Lenoir-Rhyne game will face the winner of the Clayton State-Mount Olive game in the semifinal round on Saturday, March 16.

The other side of the bracket includes quarterfinal matchups featuring third-seeded Anderson taking on sixth-seeded Pfeiffer and second-seeded Limestone facing off against seventh-seeded Barton.

USC Aiken (21-7) is making its sixth appearance in the NCAA Tournament (2002, 2005, 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013). The Pacers have now played in four of the last five national tournaments.

The Pacers enter the NCAA Tournament with 21 wins in the 2012-13 season. USC Aiken has now claimed 20 or more wins in a season in six of the last seven seasons.
