Over at South Carolina, former Williston-Elko star Kendric Salley is still chasing his dream of making the big time. It's been a tough go for Salley so far.
He missed all of last season rehabbing the ACL he tore his senior year of high school, but now things are looking up.
Salley's back to full strength and ready to add some punch to a very deep Gamecocks backfield. He had a break through in spring ball this year, scoring a touchdown for the first time in the Garnet and Black.
That was nice, but there's one other thing that gave him an even bigger confidence boost.
"I've been out of my brace practicing regularly without the brace. That gives you a whole lot more confidence because the brace actually slows you down," Salley said. "It keeps you stablized. Once you feel like you can do the things you were able to do without the brace, you feel like you're back to yourself."
Salley is fourth or fifth on the USC depth chart right now, but as South Carolina fans know, injuries can change that pecking order in a heart beat.
