AUGUSTA, GA – T.W. Josey Alumni, Friends and Supporters everywhere with a heavy heart would like to pause at this time to remember a Josey legend and icon, Coach Henry R. Daggett. Coach Henry R. Daggett, Josey’s first Head Football Coach and Athletic Director, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2012. His passing came exactly a year and three months after the Josey Community named the new fieldhouse facility in his honor.

With convictions, dedication and motivation, Coach Henry “Hank” Daggett, affectionately known as “Chief” or “Uncle Hank” by his former students and players, molded young men and women to become true leaders in their communities and their individual careers. He has indeed left a mark on the hearts of those who have walked the halls of 1701 Fifteenth Street.

Coach Henry “Hank” Daggett had an incredible influence on the Josey Community just as the late David Dupree had on the Lucy Laney Community. They now join one another again in the realms of heaven just as they join one another in 2011 as they were both inducted into the Augusta City Classic Hall of Fame together.

T.W. Josey Alumni, Friends and Supporters extend our heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the Daggett Family, and to the Psi Omega Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, in which he was a proud member of.

T.W. Josey Alumni especially are asked to take a moment to reflect on the life of Coach Henry “Hank” Daggett, a Josey icon.
