We're just a few weeks away from the start of NFL training camps and that means back to work for a number of local guys. That includes former Jefferson County star Fernando Velasco.
The now 28-year-old will be starting his sixth season with the Tennessee Titans. Here's a guy who started on the practice squad and eventually worked his way up to the main roster. Last year, he started ever game as center for the Titans.
"It's went by pretty fast," said Velasco. "It's been a blessing, each year has gotten better. I've gotten better and better as a player. You know, just matured over the years and it's just awesome, just awesome. Something you dream about as a little kid and it's just reality now and it's awesome."
Velasco says he's got to work just as hard today as he did when he was a rookie seeing others want his place on the roster.
He could be joined again by Lincoln County's Brandon Barden, he got a look the last few games last year in a Titans uniform.
