Aug. 12, 2014 LOUISVILLE, GA-- We've all heard it. Coaches preaching that defense wins championships. The Jefferson County warriors may have that kind of defense this season. The first step is already taken care of-- they believe it.
It's expected to be the staple of the Warriors squad. The defense packs a punch this year, featuring a group of senior linebackers led by Troy University commit Daylan Williams.
For a special kind of championship season, the stars, the moon and everything else has to align. Coach J.B. Arnold isn't ready to claim a title right now, but his defense may be close to a trophy-type unit.
"That's just something we strive around here because we know deep down that the defense will win you a championship. Offense may sell the tickets, but defense does win championships," coach Arnold said.
"We all just combine together, bring it together, and we come together. We just play good. I really can't explain it, but every year we're good on defense because of the brotherly love we've got for each other," Williams said.
The offense has worked together for a while, as well. Nine starters return to the Warriors, including quarterback Will Jordan. Jefferson County has some fun games right out of the gate, facing Burke County and Washington-Wilkes in the non region.
