JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- GRU Augusta combined for a 304 Tuesday during the third and final round of the Eagle/Osprey Intercollegiate at Deerwood Country Club.
The Jaguars, who were paired with Troy and North Florida, finished at 909 (+45) and in ninth place in the field of 15 teams. Georgia Southern and UNF were co-hosts of the tournament, which marked the end of GRU’s fall schedule.
Sophomore Maverick Antcliff, who carded his first-ever hole-in-one in a competitive round Monday, booked the Jags’ best finish with a tie for 11th at 6-over 222. He managed a final-round, 3-over 75 and notched his second top-20 finish of the season. Redshirt freshman Viktor Edin (75-78-75) matched Antcliff for the squad’s best round of the day and tied for 37th with senior Alex Wennstam (73-78-77) at 12-over 228. Junior Cody Shafer (79-78-77) tied for 65th and sophomore Meechai Padung (76-80-80) tied for 72nd. Freshman Jake Marriott (78-78-78) -- playing as an individual -- also tied for 65th.
Despite less than ideal playing conditions that included five different rain showers and wind gusts exceeding 30 mph, Vanderbilt extended its overnight lead and registered an eight-shot victory over Tulsa. Mercer was third, while Troy and Southeast Louisiana tied for fourth.
Tulsa’s Logan McCraken booked a 4-under 68 and, with a 54-hole total of 5-under 211, claimed medalist honors by five strokes over Georgia Southern’s Scott Wolfes and Vandy’s Matthias Schwab. North Florida All-American MJ Maguire and Mercer’s Hans Reimers tied for fourth.
