NORMAN, Okla. – GRU Augusta’s Division I men’s golf program can add more accolades as men’s senior Alex Wennstam was announced as a 2014 Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Wennstam was also a 2013 Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar. He joins former Jaguars Emmett Turner (2004, 2005), Wallace Booth (2006, 2007) and Derek Chang (2012, 2013) as two-time recipients of this honor.

"We are extremely proud of Alex's accomplishments in the classroom and on the golf course,” head coach Jack O’Keefe said. “He is a true student-athlete who puts academics first and golf second. It is a tremendous feat and earning the honor two years in a row is something to be proud of."

Wennstam played in 10 tournaments in the 2013-14 season with a 73.76 scoring average. He shot par or better 12 times, while posting three rounds in the 60s with a 66 being his low round for the year. Wennstam posted five top-25 finishes as a Jaguar this year – highlighted by his eighth-place spot at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate. On May 4th, Wennstam received the Most Valuable Player award for the men's golf team. He will graduate this fall from GRU Augusta.
