Jags Hunter Boose recevies national honor

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Hunter Boose hit .750 in a three-game Peach Belt Conference series at Armstrong with a 1.417 slugging percentage, and now sophomore Hunter Boose has been named the NCAA Division II National Hitter of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writer’s Association.

Boose (Evans, Ga.) went 5-for-6 in the opener at Armstrong on Feb. 15 with two doubles and four RBI as the Jaguars won 13-6. He went 2-for-3 in the next two games, hitting home runs in both. For the week, Boose had seven RBI and scored five runs while drawing two walks for a .786 on-base percentage. He also made no errors in six chances a third base. He is currently second in the PBC in doubles, third in home runs and 5th in RBI.

West Florida left-hander Jordan DeLorenzo (Winter Park, Fla.), was named National Pitcher of the Week. DeLorenzo pitched a complete-game, one-hit shutout for No. 9 West Florida with three strikeouts against North Alabama last week to improve to 3-0 on the year. Over the nine-inning effort, he only allowed two walks and he ended the game having struck out UNA’s No. 3 and 4 hitters.
