Aiken, SC--Just a few weeks to go before the college baseball season is underway and as usual, the expectations run high at USC Aiken.

Depending on which publication you listen to, the Pacers are ranked as high as number two in the nation or at worst in the top 15. Kenny Thomas returns and is now in his 15th season at the helm. This team may be as deep as ever up and down the lineup. One big guy they'll be counting on, harlem product and the ace of the staff Derek Beasley. Even Thomas is surprised Beasley is back.

"Everybody said he was going to be drafted and gone and then the draft day went by and we lose Taylor Grover, we lose Zach Hayden, Josh Miller goes, but for some reason Derek didn't" said Kenny Thomas "Maybe some of the scouts are my friends and said hey we're going to let you have him one more year, so it was a blessing for us."

While there are holes to fill, a group of underclassman are ready to step up, as too several Division One transfers who are expected to make an immediate impact. Pacers will again have one of the toughest non conference schedules in the nation as they'll face the #1 and #3 team in the first few weeks.
