Hephzibah, Ga--This area has been very fortunate over the past half dozen years or so, we've actually had a rooting interest in the Super Bowl. This year, it's the Seattle Seahawks and offensive lineman James Carpenter.
Carpenter played ball at Hephizbah, where he started to make a name for himself. Originally he signed to play college ball at Iowa State before going the junior college route. After that, off to Alabama where he won a title with the tide. He was a first round draft pick with the seahawks. John Bowen was his high school coach and saw the potential for him to hit it big.
"He came to work every day, did what his coaches asked from him, his parents weren't at the school everyday asking what you were going to do for my kid, how are you going to feature my kid, what are you going to do" said John Bowen "They just came and trusted the coaches and he did what he was suppose to and he kept plugging and kept working and had to take a longer route then some by going the junior college route, but he quietly came and did his business and that's reflective in where he's at"
If it says anything about the recruting process, Carpenter was labled a two star recruit back in his rebel playing days before garnering attention while at Coffeyville Community College.
