AIKEN, S.C. - The University of South Carolina Aiken women’s basketball team won its first Peach Belt Conference matchup of the season, 65-51, over the UNC Pembroke Braves Saturday evening at the Convocation Center.

Kayla Harris scored a game-high 24 points and added nine rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal. The preseason All-American and reigning PBC Player of the Week scored her first basket a little more than four minutes into the game to become the ninth Pacer in the Division II era of school history to score 1,000 points in a career. Harris (Raleigh, N.C./Wakefield HS) went 11-for-15 from the field and 3-for-4 from the charity stripe in the game.

The Pacers (7-0, 1-0 PBC) remain undefeated on the season and push their regular-season home winning streak to 23 games.

USC Aiken shot 39.7 percent (25-63) from the field in the game, while holding the Braves (5-3, 0-1 PBC) to 39.5 percent (17-43) shooting.

Daniela Tarailo was the only other Pacer in double figures, scoring 11 points. Tarailo (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point HS) added four assists and two steals.

Brittany Hill chipped in with nine points and 11 assists. Hill (Mechanicsville, Va./Quinnipiac) also had four steals and only one turnover in the game. The 11 assists were just one shy of tying the USC Aiken single-game record in the category.

USC Aiken out-rebounded the Braves 37 to 33, and the Pacers corralled 12 offensive boards.

The Pacers will next be in action on Monday, Dec. 17, in Florence, S.C., as they face off against Francis Marion. They will next be in action at home on Wednesday, Dec. 19, as they host Anderson (S.C.) with the tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
