ATHENS, Ga. (AP) -- Todd Gurley has become only the second true freshman in Georgia history to rush for 1,000 yards.
Gurley reached the mark Saturday in the second quarter against Georgia Southern on a 5-yard run. The only other first-year Bulldog to rush for 1,000 yards was Herschel Walker, who had 1,616 yards in 1980 and went on to capture the Heisman Trophy two years later.
Knowshon Moreno was a redshirt freshman when he gained 1,334 yards in 2007.
