Greenbrier falls in baseball state finals

Saturday May 25, 2013

Marietta, Ga--Greenbrier lost twice Saturday night as Pope wins the Class 5A state baseball title, 11-7 in game one, 15-5 in game two.

In the opener, the Wolfpack led on three different occasions only to see the Greyhounds rebound. They led 5-2 entering the bottom of the seventh but then Pope plated three runs to tie things and force extra innings.

The Pack would score twice in the top of the 8th, then Pope would again tie it and then win the opener on a walk off grand slam home run.

In game two, Greenbrier again had an early lead thanks to a Taylor Glover homer, but Pope had a 13 run fourth inning and never looked back en route to the state title.
