Augusta, Ga--T-minus two days until the GreenJackets return to action at Lake Olmstead Stadium, and things are going to be a lot different for the home team.
It's starts at the top with a new manager. Mike Goff makes the move to the jackets dugout. He's spent 20 years as coach at all levels of pro ball, and this is his first year in Augusta. No surprise. Plenty of turn over on the roster too. It's a new crop of hungry players, including one from just up the road and all these fresh faces are hungry to win now and happy to have the chance to do it here.
"I played in the South Atlantic League, I shouldn't tell my age here, but it was back in 1986. So, it's really exciting to be back in this league. I know this league has really grown. I'm just excited number one to be back in the South, and number two it's just a great group of guys we've got here. I'm looking forward to grinding it out with them for the next five months." said Mike Goff
"Once I got drafted by the Giants organization and I started to look at the teams and the different locations, I saw that we did actually have a team in Georgia. So, right off the bat, I really wanted to be here just because I was close to home." said Travious Relaford
The GreenJackets kick off the season at home thursday against lexington. It's the first time in five years Augusta has opened on its home field.
