With the GreenJackets down 4-3 in the ninth inning, Matt Duffy scored the tying run. The shortstop led off the inning with his third triple of the season to left field. Duffy then crossed home plate on a sacrifice fly by designated hitter Ben Turner.

Unfortunately the excitement didn’t last long for Augusta. In the 10th inning, Charleston’s Reymond Nunez used his second home run of the game to give the RiverDogs (51-38) a 5-4 win against the GreenJackets (48-42) at The Joe.

All five of Charleston’s runs were scored on home runs, including a solo shot by RiverDogs’ Greg Bird who has now hit a homer in three-straight games.

The GreenJackets got out to an early lead against the RiverDogs. In the first inning, center fielder Andrew Cain singled to left field, advanced to second when catcher Trevor Brown hit into a fielder’s choice, moved to second on a single by Duffy and scored when third baseman Mitch Delfino grounded out to third.

The RiverDogs then took the lead in the second inning. After starter Justin Schumer walked Charleston’s Angelo Gumbs, Dante Bichette hit the first home run of the game.

Schumer went on to retire 11-straight batters before giving up a single in the fifth.

Then in the sixth inning, Augusta retook the lead. Second baseman Alberto Robles started off the inning with a single, moved to third on a single by Brown and scored on a wild pitch.

Brown scored next for the GreenJackets. The catcher moved to third on a single by Duffy and then put Augusta up 3-2 when Delfino grounded out to second base.

But Bird tied it up in the bottom of the sixth with solo home run. The RiverDogs then pulled ahead in the seventh when Nunez hit his first homer of the game and earned their second walk-off win this series when Nunez went deep in the 10th inning.

The GreenJackets will wrap up their series against the RiverDogs tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. They return to Lake Olmstead Stadium on Wednesday for their first meeting with the Lakewood BlueClaws.
