GreenJackets clinch playoff spot


For the second time in three years the Augusta GreenJackets are headed to the South Atlantic League playoffs following a 13-4 win over Lexington Wednesday night.

The Jackets gave up a two run homer in the first, but quickly responded as Shawn Payne hit a lead off homer followed by Mitch Delfino's solo homer to left to knot the score at two.

Augusta would add two more runs in the second followed by three in the third to blow things open. A five spot in the sixth put the game on ice a the Jackets clinch the second half title.

The GreenJackets will now play Savannah in the first round, best of three series next week. Augusta will host the series opener followed by games two and three in Savannah.
