AUGUSTA, GA – Augusta GreenJackets catcher, Tyler Ross, received the South Atlantic League Player of the Week for the games played the week of July 28-August 3. In six games Ross went for 10 for 22 at bat (.455); recording two doubles, three home runs, seven RBI and scored six runs.
Tyler Ross is from Naples, Florida and was drafted by the San Francisco Giants as a in the 12th round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft. He attended Louisiana State University before being drafted by the Giants. Ross has played in 93 games so far this season.
Ross is the second member of the GreenJackets roster to be named by the SAL as a performer of the week. Earlier in the season, Carlos Alvarado was named Pitcher of the Week for games pitched the week of May 19-25. Since then Alvarado has advanced to the San Francisco Giants double A affiliate the Richmond Flying Squirrels.
