GreenJackets split series with Savannah

Aug. 10, 2014 AUGUSTA, GA--The Augusta GreenJackets split their four game set with Savannah, losing the series finale Sunday 6-4. The game was called in seventh due to rain.

Tied at four in the sixth, the Sand Gnats took the lead scoring two runs. Stefan Sabol had an RBI triple to drive in one run. With one out, Yeixon Ruiz singled to center field which drove in the second run. The Sand Gnats scored their final run in the seventh inning with an RBI double by Jorge Rivero.

The Sand Gnats scored three runs before the GreenJackets got on the board. Their first run came from a fielding error in the first inning. The team then scored two more runs in the third. An RBI double by Nelfi Zapata drove in the first run and a single up the middle by Jorge Rivero drove in the second run.

The GreenJackets scored all four runs in the bottom of the third inning. A sacrifice fly and a fielding error drove in the first two runs for the team. An RBI double by Craig Massoni drove in the third run. Will Callaway singled up the middle to drive in the final run for the team. The GreenJackets led the Sand Gnats 4-3 after three innings.

The GreenJackets hit the road and face off against the West Virginia Power, August 11-13, and then the Asheville Tourists, August 14-17. The team returns home on August 19th to face the Hickory Crawdads and Lexington Legends.
