Georgia likes the view from 1st place in SEC East

September 8, 2013 ATHENS, Ga. (AP) -- Georgia likes this view a whole lot better.

After being forced to rally the last two years to capture Southeastern Conference East titles, the No. 9 Bulldogs seized the early lead in the division race with a 41-30 victory over South Carolina.

Georgia (1-1, 1-0 SEC) moved up two spots from No. 11 in the Associated Press rankings Sunday, while the Gamecocks (1-1, 0-1) slipped seven places to No. 13.

The Bulldogs put on quite an offensive show against South Carolina, piling up 536 yards and controlling the ball for more than 35 minutes. Aaron Murray threw for 309 yards and four touchdowns, while Todd Gurley ran for 136 yards on 30 bruising carries.

But the defense is still a concern for Georgia, having surrendered 68 points in two games.
