Gamecocks eyeing history in Capital One Bowl

No question, the postseason has been a nightmare for South Carolina the last three years. The Gamecocks are 0-4 in postseason games in that time, and they really haven't even made a game of most of the contests.

So, needless to say, USC is hungry for a bowl win, but that's not the only reason why.

A win over Nebraska in the Capital One Bowl would mean a record eleven wins for South Carolina.

Not once in the school's 118 years of football has the team won that many, and this is only the second time they've made it to double digit wins.

With that kind of history in mind, they're ready for success.

Junior linebacker Damario Jeffery said, "We probably mention it every other word. It's always 'Get the eleventh win. Be the greatest team to ever be here. Get the eleventh win. Get the eleventh win.' That's all we talk about right now is getting that eleventh win. We want it really bad."

"A chance to go down in history. We talk about it all the time," added junior safety D.J. Swearinger. "To be one of the first teams, the first team to start a trend here. We'll start January 2nd and on through the 2012 season being one of those big name teams."

The Capital One Bowl is Monday, January 2nd, at 1:00 in Orlando. Nebraska is 9-3 this season.
