Augusta, Ga--The college golf season is teeing off around the nation. The GRUA men are already at their first event getting ready while the lady Jags leave later this week. Kory Thompson is now in her third year as coach and plenty of challenges lie ahead.
Most noteably, plenty of new faces on the lady Jag roster. Three freshmen and a couple of sophomores will be relied on quite a bit this year. But they do have some experience on top of the roster with Christine Duschek-Hansen and Casey Kennedy, who's their number one golfer.
"We have four new girls so half the team is new this year, so it's going to be a little different going to our first event, we're going to have three freshmen playing, three out of the five." said Kory Thompson "But it's fun, it's exciting, they're coming in here with a whole new outlook and excitment that's good for our program"
"Most of that will happen during the tournament." said Casey Kennedy "They haven't experienced a college event yet so just try to help them with the ropes, try to have them not get that nervous, it's just like playing in any other tournament"
The lady Jags missed the tournament a year ago as a team so there's plenty of self made motivation already there, especially for the likes of Kennedy who wants to go out on top.
