CLE ELUM, Wash. – No. 29 GRU Augusta is just six shots behind the eighth place team at the NCAA West Regional after they finished the second round with a 306 to sit 35-over par at the Tumble Creek Club at Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum, Wash. The top-eight schools after 54 holes of play will compete in the NCAA National Championships May 20-23 at Tulsa Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.
The Jaguars improved their team score from the first round by one shot and jumped to 12th place after finishing day one at 14th in the 30-team field.
Jags senior Casey Kennedy triple bogeyed the first hole to start her second round. She took par on No. 2 and No. 3, before she birdied holes four, five, and six to get back to even par where she finished her front nine. She ended her second day with a five-shot improvement to finish with a 2-over 74. Freshman Eunice Yi, who paced the Jags yesterday at even-par, signed for a 4-over 76, bogeying four holes on the front nine and remaining even after.
Freshman Josefine Nyqvist sat 1-over par on her front nine after she bogeyed twice, but snuck in a birdie to sign for a 5-over 77. Freshman Jessica Haigwood shot even through six holes, but bogeyed No. 7 to sit 1-over par after her front nine. Haigwood ended day two with a 7-over 79 after she recorded five bogeys and one birdie on the back nine, while junior Shannon Pak carded a 16-over 88.
