North Augusta, SC -- A couple years ago, Fox Creek was the new team on the block, trying to prove it belonged on the football field.

Then, Marty Williams stepped under center. The last two seasons, Williams led the Predators to new heights, but eventually every star must move on.

It's the first year after Marty, and the Predators are ready to continue their climb to the top of the region.

The cupboard certainly isn't bare. Trey Mock and Deondre Baskett got plenty of time on the offense, as did youngster Zabian Adams.

For Head Coach Russ Schneider and his team, Marty Williams won't be replaced by one guy, but the Predators have the parts to get it done anyway.

"It's the smartest group we've had," Schneider said. "These kids have had to sit for awhile, and we're losing Marty (Williams) and Quadre (Castleberry) and those guys. It's a whole new team. I wouldn't call it a rebuilding year, but there's a lot of guys out there in positions that they haven't played before."

Senior Blake Crawford added, "We don't have a lot of seniors, but people that are young are stepping up and filling in so we should be all right. We've been putting in a lot of hard work, and we're just hoping to repeat what we've done the last couple years."

As part of a big region, Fox Creek only has a couple non-region games this year. One of those should be a good one in Augusta, though, when the Predators travel to Augusta Christian.
