Aug. 11, 2014 NORTH AUGUSTA, SC-- Fox creek won't lie. Last season's playoff snub still stings quite a bit. With six wins a year ago, the Preds believed they were a playoff team. This year, they want to prove it.
If Fox Creek wants to reach the next level, they'll have to do it with a completely different cast. 17 seniors graduated from the roster, leaving the team looking a little smaller on the field. The Preds will have to fight a little more to earn their spot at the postseason table.
"They've worked hard in the weight room and they're just scrappy. They're just a scrappy group compared to where we were before with our size," coach Russ Schneider said.
"Actually, as far as big players, were smaller this year but we have more numbers. I think that's going to help us," senior Cory Lucas said.
Expect Dalton Swires to help in big ways. The running back is the unquestioned leader for the Preds on and off the field. Caleb Charlton is taking over the quarterback position, and he'll have time to grow in to it as a sophomore.
