After 12 years in the NFL, former Josey star Deon Grant has retired, and retires as a New York Giant.
Grant won a Super Bowl title with the Giants in 2011 but then sat out last year after not signing with a team.
The former Eagle won a title at all levels, first with Josey, then with Tennessee and finally with the Giants.
Grant was a first round draft pick with the Carolina Panthers and spent his NFL career with four different teams, the last being the Giants. He was a mainstay in the defensive backfield and at one point started 144 straight games when he was a member of the Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars and Seattle Seahawks.
Grant never forgot his roots and is routinely in Augusta, usually taking in a Josey-Laney basketball game. A year ago, while he wasn't playing, Grant also attended a number of high school football games in the area. He also routinely did events for area kids.
