Former Jag Natalie Wille wins pro event in Sweden

GRODINGE, Sweden. – Former Jaguar women’s golfer Natalie Wille won her first event as a professional in the Nordea Tour’s Frontwalker Ladies Open at Botkyrka Golf Club in Sweden on Friday, June 27th, while GRU Augusta rising sophomore Josefine Nyqvist took home low amateur accolades.

In a field full of PGA members, amateurs, and non-amateurs, Wille, who graduated in 2013 after competing as an individual for the Jags at the NCAA East Regional, compiled a final score of 217 (2-under par) in the 54 holes of stroke play at Botkyrka Golf Club. Botkyrka GC was founded in 1988 and is considered to be one of the most beautiful courses in Stockholm. Wille carded three birdies in her opening 18 holes to post a 72 for her first round – one under on the par-73 course.

She matched four bogeys with four birdies in her second outing to post a 73 and ended the event with another 72 (-1) in her third and final round. Overall Wille converted 10 birdies to eight bogeys and signed for 36 pars.

After helping lead GRU Augusta women’s golf to a national ranking and a NCAA Regional appearance in her freshman season in 2013-14, Josefine Nyqvist continued her growing prowess on the golf course by taking home the low amateur award at the Frontwalker. Nyqvist recorded a 76 for her worst round of the event after the opening 18. She shaved off a stroke in her second round, shooting a 75 where she carded four birdies on her back nine. Nyqivist made it under par after her final trip of 18, shooting a 72 (-1) to tie for 10th overall in the field. She totaled eight birdies, seven bogeys, and posted 37 pars through her 54 holes of play.
