Former Cross Creek star skying high for USC Aiken

Wednesday January 30, 2013

Aiken, SC--When Santoine Butler left Cross Creek high school, he was hoping Gardner Webb would be the next big thing for him. It didn't work out. Now Butler is a lot close to home and boy his stock grows pretty much every time he hits the court at USC Aiken.

First and foremost he's a lot more comforatable with the Pacers. The up tempo style certainl fits his game. Watch a game and you're bound to see the high wire act butler can provide. A lot of it is to get the team going and the energy level up.

"Everybody is always feeling it you know, when he throws one of those lobs up towards the rim and I go get it, the place just explodes" said Santoine Butler "I mean everybody sees it and everybody feels it."

"He's fun to watch" said Vince Alexander "In practice he's fun to watch when they're just kids after practice and they just start getting around and start dunking, he's pretty exciting to watch."

Butler is a junior so he has another year and a half to grow. While coach Vince Alexander has been pleasantly surprised by his abilities on both ends of the court, he also knows he's still a growing guy who will get better.

"I certainly believe he can bigger and stronger and I think he's doing that" added Alexander "I think he's really working hard in the weight room. He's committed to being in there and getting bigger and stronger"

If you haven't seen the pacers and butler this year, they're home Thursday night against Flagler. Then head to Augusta State for the rivalry game on Saturday.
