Augusta, Ga--We are just a couple of days away from the largest half Ironman in the country and it's all happening in our backyard.
Despite the rainy afternoon, the transitiion area from the swim to the bikes is coming along nicely for the intermedex Ironman 70.3. Nearly 3500 people have signed up in record time. For a couple of reasons Augusta and the Ironman 70.3 has just clicked.
"One is the hospitatality" said race director A.J. Sills "The southern hospitality absolutely rings true in this community. From our volunteers to our athletes to our spectators its defintely something that sets this region apart on a positive note. Also, our course is extremely friendly.
First wave of swimmers hits the water at 7:30 Sunday morning at the marina. The finish line is at the Augusta Common with the awards ceremony at 4pm.
