Fifth ranked Lady Pacers win 21st straight home game

AIKEN, S.C. – The nationally fifth-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken women’s basketball team picked up its school-record 21st consecutive regular-season home victory in a 95-58 win over Florida Tech on Sunday afternoon at the Convocation Center.

USC Aiken (4-0) dominated the game from start-to-finish. The Pacers opened the game by scoring the first 16 points of the contest. They then ended the first half owning a 52-33 lead.

The second half would be no different with USC Aiken outscoring the Panthers, 43-25, in the second stanza to emerge with the 37-point victory. The Pacers led by as many as 43 in the second half.

USC Aiken ended the win over Florida Tech (3-2) shooting 62 percent (31-for-50) from the field as a team.

The Pacers knocked down a school single-game record 69.2 percent (9-of-13) of their 3-point attempts in the game.

USC Aiken hit 75 percent (24-for-32) of its free throw attempts in the contest.

The Pacer defense held Florida Tech to just 29.8 percent (17-for-57) shooting in the game. Florida Tech hit just 33.3 percent (8-for-24) of its 3-point attempts in the game.

The Panthers connected on 16 of its 24 (66.7 percent) of their free throw attempts in the game.

Kayla Harris (Raleigh, N.C./Wakefield HS) led a trio of Pacers in double figures in the game with a game-high 24 points. She was a perfect 7-of-7 from the field and 10-for-12 from the free throw line. Harris also had four rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal.

Daniela Tarailo (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point HS) knocked down four of USC Aiken’s nine treys in the game en route to 14 points. She also had six rebounds to go along with three assists and one steal.

Mackenzie Reese (Madison, Wis./Edgewood HS) was the final Pacer in double figures with 10 points. She also had four assists and three steals.

Tiffani Moody (Raleigh, N.C./Ohio Valley University) finished with a career-high tying five blocks to go along with eight rebounds, six points and two assists.

Brittany Hill (Mechanicsville, Va./Quinnipiac) ended the Pacer win with nine points, six steals and five assists.

Kayk Wilson was the only Panther in double figures in the game with 21 points.

USC Aiken will next close out its season-opening five-game homestand by welcoming Benedict to the Convocation Center for a 5:30 p.m. game on Saturday, Dec. 1.
