Evans, Ga--For 21 years Kevin Kenny has been on the basketball sidelines, the last at Evans High School. Tuesday night, he'll go for career win number 300. He's not alone. As impressive, assistant coach Roy Peake has been along for the ride the entire time.
The duo are basically co-coaches now a days. They readily admit they can probably finish each others' sentences. Vary rarely will you find an assistant, especially at the high school level to stick it out like this. For Peake, he wouldn't have it any other way.
"He gives me a lot of input so it's just the same if I was on my own" said Roy Peake "We're co-coaches as he would say so there's really not a whole lot of difference. I give him a lot of credit for not having the ego too big where he can acknowledge that."
"We've been together a long time and to have one coach with you by your side for all 300 of them, I mean it's a special feeling. He's my best friend. Not only that, he's probably one of the best coaches around also." said Kevin Kenny
Last year the duo also took over the girls program mid season and worked on improving that squad. This year, could be a story book season for the duo. The Knights are 17 and 4 and travel to Grovetown Tuesday night for what they hope is win number 300 together.
