KENNESAW, Ga. - After 36 holes of the Georgia Amateur Championship, David Noll, Jr., of Dalton leads at 4-under-par 138. Kelby Burton of Evans (71-70) and David Watts of Chatsworth (69-72) are three strokes back at 1-under-par 141. The 92nd annual state championship is being held at Pinetree Country Club, July 11-14.

Noll posted a steady even-par second round, which included birdies on holes three, 16 and 17, and bogeys on six, seven and 15. Burton's round of 1-under-par 70 came via four birdies (holes two, seven, nine and 17) and three bogeys (holes one, six and 18), and Watts recorded five birdies (holes two, five, six, seven and 12), two bogeys (one and 15) and a double-bogey (16).

Both Noll and Burton have experience playing at Pinetree Country Club - Noll won the Georgia Amateur Championship the last time it was held at Pinetree in 2003, while Burton currently plays his collegiate golf at Kennesaw State University, where Pinetree is the program's home track.

Seventy-eight players made the 36-hole cut at 11-over-par 153 and better and will tee it up on Saturday. After two rounds of play, only three players are under-par and four players are even-par or better.

Mookie DeMoss of Athens is the only player at even-par 142 after posting a steady pair of 71s in round one and two. Four players are tied for fifth at 1-over-par 143, including Jimmy Beck of Columbus (73-70), Travis Williamson of Brunswick (71-72), Jeff Knox of Augusta (70-73) and Zachary Healy of Peachtree Corners (69-74). Seven players are tied for ninth at 2-over-par 144: Charlie Harrison of Atlanta (76-68), Jake O'Bryan of Athens (75-69), Chris Waters of Atlanta (74-70), Matthew Hayes of Marietta (74-70), Spencer Ralston of Gainesville (72-72), Chad Wilson of Calhoun (70-74) and Bryan Fox of Roswell (70-74).

The Georgia Amateur Championship is conducted by the Georgia State Golf Association and brings together 144 of the state's best male amateur golfers for the prestigious state title first won by Bobby Jones in 1916. Pinetree Country Club is hosting this event for the fourth time, and first since 2003. This week Pinetree is playing to 7,108 yards and a par 71.

The Championship format is 72 holes of stroke play over four days. After 36 holes of play, the field was cut to the low 70 players and ties and anyone within 10 strokes of the leader.

An online leaderboard, featuring all competitors' complete scorecards, is currently available at the following link: https://www.ghintpp.com/gsga/TPPOnlineScoring/Default.aspx?id=336. Saturday's third round will feature live, hole-by-hole scoring for the final seven groups, as well as live, nine-hole scoring for all groups.
