Eighth inning rally pushes Greensboro to win

July 27, 2014 AUGUSTA, GA-- The Grasshoppers scored five runs in the eighth inning to beat the GreenJackets 7-4

The GreenJackets were first on the board with one run scored in the fourth inning on a ground out. Back to back singles by Cristian Paulino and Jeremy Sy drove in the GreenJackets second run in the fifth inning.

Greensboro tied the game in the sixth inning when third baseman, Brian Anderson, hit a two run home run to left field on a 2-0 pitch. It was Anderson’s third home run of the season. However, the GreenJackets took the lead again the seventh when Craig Massoni scored on a wild pitch.

Heading into the eighth inning the GreenJackets were ahead 3-2, however, the lead wouldn't last through the frame. Carlos Lopez drove in the first run with a single to right field. A wild pitch and balk scored the team’s second and third runs in the inning. The final two runs were scored on back to back singles by Rehiner Cordova and Coco Johnson.

Tyler Horan scored the GreenJackets final run in the eighth inning with his fifteenth home run of the season to right field.

Greensboro’s relief pitcher, Esmerling De La Rosa (2-1), earned the win Sunday afternoon. In two innings pitched, De La Rosa allowed two hits and one earned run. Augusta’s relief pitcher, Ray Black (1-3), took the loss. In one-third inning pitched he gave up two hits and five earned runs.
