Aug. 16, 2014 MILLEN, GA-- Jenkins County is starting completely fresh. Everything is new in regards to the football team. The attitude, the offense and the head coach. The 1-9 season of 2013 can't be erased, but the Eagles can trust each other that it won't happen again.
Former Jenkins County coach Charley Waters is back in charge in Millen, bringing the flex bone offense with him. Waters takes over after two years of Ashley Harden coaching the team. Pieces of the new Eagles offense are under construction. One thing is certain with Waters. The best players are going to play.
"The roles we play, we just make it a challenge every week to see who's going to implement what we want to do. Who is going to run the program? Who is going to run the huddle? We just have to see who steps up," Waters said.
"We lost. We didn't have a winning season. This year, we have to do better than that. We have to put Jenkins County on the map, that's all there is to it," senior Deandre Gaines said.
Senior lineman Sequan Reese is an All-American bowl nominee. Coach Waters needs leaders, Reese would be one of the guys to step up for the Eagles.
