Atlanta, GA -- After the game's first drive, no one could have guessed what was about to unfold in the Georgia Dome.

ECI had a quick, mostly non-descript opening possession, punting the ball away. That's when everything changed.

Junior James Brown intercepted Dooly County Quarterback AJ Smith on the Bobcats' first play from scrimmage, returning it to the 22 yard line. Eight plays later, Greg Purcell plunged into the end zone from a yard out, and the rout was on.

The Bulldogs' star running back duo of Purcell and Brown rushed for a combined 285 yards and four touchdowns, and Brown added a 53-yard touchdown reception in a 47-7 state championship win against Dooly County.

It's ECI's first trip to the title game since back-to-back appearances in 2007 and 2008, and Chris Kearson's looked like it was making up for lost time.

After the Purcell touchdown opened the scoring, he added a second one a possession later. This time, the senior bruiser used a spin move to slip a tackle at the second level before outracing the defense to the left pylon.

Dooly County added a touchdown to halve the deficit, but it was back to work for the all-purpose star, Brown.

After taking the hand off at the Bobcats' 30-yard-line, he broke a tackle just beyond the line, then got through two more defenders on his way to paydirt and a 20-7 halftime advantage.

In the second stanza, the points just kept coming. It started with the quarterback, Caleb Pressey. After making his living handing off in the first half, Pressey faked the give to Purcell and walked in untouched for a 26-7 lead.

And if Brown's early interception set the tone, the next play was the nail in the coffin. With the ball at their own 47, Pressey got his first completion of the game, a one handed catch by Brown that he turned into a 53-yard TD and a 34-7 score.

The Bulldogs added six more from Purcell and a final touchdown from senior Renaldo Williams to close out the 47-7 final.

Brown led all rushers with 143 yards and the one touchdown, and Purcell was just a yard behind with 142 yards and a trio of scores.

ECI finishes the season 13-1, and the seniors go out with a 42-8 overall record and now, a state championship.
