Augusta, Ga--Georgia independent ranks have hit their state semifinals, Westminster and Briarwood girls are there along with the Curtis Baptist boys.

For the crusaders its been over a decade since they've been to the final four and they'll battle Frederica for the third time this year. During the regular season they split with them having been beaten the last time out. That's motivation in itself but going out a winner for a senior dominating team is probably even a bigger factor involved this time around.

"We think we're playing some of our best basketball right now" said coach John Spurlock "We have guys who've put their heart and soul into this. We have eight seniors and I think they want to go out with a winning season."

"We just got to do what we know we can do" said senior Julian Ownes "We've played this team before and last time we played them, we lost because we didn't play like we know we can play. We know we can handle them so it'll be fine."

That game is Thursday evening at Georgia College and State. Winner of that plays Saturday for the GISA class 2-A state crown.
