CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) -- Clemson All-American receiver Sammy Watkins hurt his lower leg in the second quarter and has left the game against Maryland on Saturday.

Watkins moved awkwardly after a 12-yard catch early in the second quarter when he was tackled by Matt Robinson. Watkins was stuffed for a loss of 2 yards on Clemson's next play before coming out.

The team said Watkins would not return for the second half with the Tigers holding a 35-7 lead. There was no indication on the severity of Watkins' injury. Watkins had four catches for 60 yards in the first half.

Watkins, a sophomore, has 42 catches for 561 yards and two touchdowns this season.
