August 17, 2013 Warrenton, GA-- Briarwood Academy football is taking the necessary steps to improve as a playoff team.
The Buccaneers have reached the GISA postseason each of the last five years. Next step for Briarwood, break the barrier and go deeper at the state level.
Briarwood head coach John Osborne has flipped this program in to a successful group since taking over in 2008.
The problem for the Bucs: they've always run in to the hottest teams early in the postseason.
Briarwood's biggest concerns sit along the offensive line.
Osborne and the coaching staff are working to get their big men up front, meshing together. That's a big key along with getting that one signature win the program needs.
"We still have to give our all, we never can quit. You know, football is a lot like life. Life's going to throw you a curve every now and then. You've got to be prepared for that curve. Even if you don't hit the ball the first time, you'll hit that curveball eventually," coach Osborne said.
Six starters are returning to Briarwood this year. The Buccaneers host Edmund Burke to open the season Friday.
