They put themselves in a hole, but you can usually rely on a veteran to not panic under pressure. Turns out, that was exactly the case at Brentwood, where the War Eagles rebounded to clinch back-to-back GISA AA state baseball championships.
Friday, the War Eagles trailed rival Edmund Burke 4-0 before eventually losing 4-3 and falling one game away from settling for a runner-up finish.
They didn't even give up four runs Saturday...in two games. Brentwood's pitching and defense was dominant in 3-1 and 5-1 wins, giving them back-to-back titles and sending their seven seniors out a winner.
It's the end of a dominant run for the War Eagles that saw them win 58-of-63 games the last two seasons, including taking four-of-five match ups with the rival Spartans in 2013.
