Evans, GA -- Just one win stood between Greenbrier softball and a major milestone. Of course, a single win doesn't seem like much when it's one of 500.
The Lady Wolfpack posted an 11-run first inning Saturday afternoon, cruising to a 13-0 run rule of Warner Robins.
That meant 500 wins for Head Coach Garrett Black and his dominant program.
That run includes 15 consecutive region championships, a state title in 2004 and an appearance in the big game two years ago.
And the guy behind all of it has never been one to soak in the glory.
"This program has become a little more than I ever thought it would be," Black said. "It means a lot to a lot of people. I'm very proud of it, and so are our kids. It just makes me feel good to see former parents come back and players. It's something for everybody."
Think about the breakdown of those wins.
500 wins in a span of just under 17 seasons works out to nearly 30 wins per season.
The Lady Wolfpack advances to the region semi-finals next Wednesday.
