Augusta, Ga--The boxing career of Augusta's Justin Deloach has a story book beginning. Now, at 18 years of age, Deloach is ready for the next chapter, that of being a pro fighter.
Thursday at the Augusta Boxing Club, Deloach was on hand with all sorts of friends and family members and those who've helped him along the way. Recently Deloach went to Houston, Texas and a mini camp with famed trainer Ronnie Shields. Shields has trained the likes of Evander Holyfield and immediately saw the potential and put the best team around Deloach as he starts his career.
"It's not going to be easy, but at least you have something to look forward too" said ronnie Shields "You know, you have a path that you can follow and that's the most important thing about him having a team around him that's going to push him that way. You can't get no better then what he has right now."
"I thought I was going to be in college" said Justin Deloach "I thought I was going to be in school. But I'm here and I'm living out my dream. It's still hard to believe and I still pray about it every night."
Among those ready to help Deloach is manager Al Haymon and even Oscar Dela Hoya , and they'll work to get Deloach to the top of the sport. The tenative plan is to get him his first pro fight early and March as the next chapter begins.
