Allendale, SC--Year after year Allendale Fairfax has found a way to make the best with what they have. The best usually results in a winning program that can threaten for a state title. They could be as good, if not better this season.
While they did lose eight seniors, they bring back a solid nucleus on both sides of the ball. On defense, Mike Taylor leads that crew with eight other returning players. Coach Eddie Ford will turn to a sophomore quarterback but is very confident in what he's capable of doing. As far as motivation, that's easy. A first round playoff loss is all they need.
"We thought we had a pretty good year last year" said coach Eddie Ford "It just didn't end the way it needed to end. Losing in the first round after having an undefeated regular season, it left a really bad taste in our kids mouths, as well as our staff"
"It's a big motivation" said Mike Taylor "Looking at what we had last season, undefeated and lost first round, sour taste, sour taste, we got to make up for it."
When you're a class a program, injuries are key and coach Ford is hoping to develop a little depth with the Tigers. If their young quarterback develops quickly and Brandon Jordan gets the job done in the backfield, don't expect this team to be a quick out in the post season
