Aiken guns for third straight lower state volleyball title

Tuesday October 31, 2012
Aiken, SC--One team that hasn't had many challegnes lately are the Aiken Hornets. Tomorrow night, they're hoping to make their own history by winning lower state for a third straight year

This year may be their most impressive effort to date. Having lost a good corp group of seniors and losing anna tovo to injury early season, the Hornets had their hands full. But as the season wore on, they started to trust each other. Led by Tyler Smith and Natasha Dicks, these girls started believing and it's made all the difference in the world.

"The reason we've gotten better is because not only have we realized our potential, but we've realized to trust each other." said Natasha Dicks "When we first started out, no one knew each other."

"After last we everyone was kind of like bummed out that everyone was leaving" said Tyler Smith "We were just like, well, we're going to try to make it a good year but nobody is expecting us go to go back, but we want to go back."

Anna Tovo has returned and the hornets are coming off their best match of the year and feel they can take it to yet another level. They'll host wando at six tomorrow and see if they can punch their ticket to the state finals.
