ASU women hunting revenge and East title against USC Aiken

Monday, February 25, 2013

It's been four years since the Augusta State women's basketball team knocked off USC Aiken.

Of course, the most recent loss in that streak has been the most painful. That's when the Pacers hit a buzzer beater a month ago for a 56-55 win at ASU.

Now, with identical records and just two games left in the regular season, the Lady Jags and Lady Pacers go head-to-head Wednesday for a likely East Division title.

Think ASU is feeling motivated? No question.

They feel like they robbed themselves of the win, and this time they're seeing a much different ending in Aiken.

ASU guard Jay Ashby said, "I'm not really worried about this game honestly. I think everybody's hungry right now, and we're all going to come out and play hard. We're going to do what we need to do, and we're just going to play our game. If we do that, I don't think we can be beat."

The men play right after the ladies contest Wednesday night.

The Pacers have all but wrapped up a top seed, while Augusta State is trying to hang on to a spot in the conference tournament.
