ASU sends first track and field athlete to NCAA Championships

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta State junior Dustin Ross qualified for the 2013 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships for the men’s 1500-meters Tuesday afternoon. The event is hosted by Colorado State University at Pueblo in the Neta and Eddie DeRose Thunderbowl on Thursday, May 23-25.

The only Jaguar to reach the NCAA postseason from both track and field teams, Ross will race in the 1500 on Saturday, May 25 at 5:45 p.m. following the women’s race at 5:35 p.m. The decathlon (100 meters, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400 meters) kicks off the championships Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m.

Ross qualified for the NCAA Championships with his fourth-place finish in the men’s 1500 at the Georgia Tech Invitational Friday, May 10, with a time of 3:50.31 – making him the first ASU track and field competitor to achieve postseason success.
