ASU looks to hang more banners at Christenberry Fieldhouse

Monday October 15, 2012

Augusta, Ga--Hard to believe but the college basketball season is just around the corner. About a month before the first games are played and Monday, the tip off to the season with the first official day to practice. All three of our area squads on the court gearing up for big things to come.

Expectations are again running high with Augusta State. Dip Metress has four starters back and plenty of talent we might not be use to seeing. First time in a while the Jags come into the season as an underdog seeing they missed out on the tournament last march. Yea, that's motivation enough.

"They've heard it quite a few times that 17 and 11 isn't good enough" said coach Dip Metress "We want to hang banners around here. That's our goal. Last year was the first time we didn't hang a banner for the first time in five years. I want to hang a banner and hopefully get some guys soem rings and to get that is to win the regular season Peach Belt title or win the confernece tournament."

"We're young but going in we're a lot more mature this year." said Devon Wright Nelson "So I guess we're going to kind of know what it's going to take to win."

Harold Doby, Devon Wright Nelson, and Devonte Thomas will lead the offense and look for a transfer or two to make an immediate impact as well.
