COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina coach Darrin Horn says forward Austin Steed will not return to the Gamecocks.
Horn said on Friday he has given Steed the option of staying at South Carolina with a scholarship or transferring and using his final year of eligibility.
Horn says he talked to Steed after the Gamecocks season ended with a loss to Alabama at the Southeastern Conference tournament.
The 6-foot-8 junior from Hephzibah, Ga., averaged 2.9 points and 2.9 rebounds a game this season, starting 11 of the 30 games he played.
Steed's most memorable moment this year came when he blocked John Wall's layup with the Gamecocks up four with just over a minute to go in their 68-62 upset of then-No. 1 Kentucky.
