AUGUSTA, Ga--ESPN is taking over the Bell Auditorium for a "fight night" that will be seen by millions of people.
One of the big draws is undefeated boxing superstar Ray Whitfield. He will be defending his flyweight title in front of a home crowd.
Whitfield is ranked number one in the US flyweight division. During this Wednesday night fight, he will challenge Columbian boxer Jair Jimenez.
"People i see every day ask me, when you going to fight closer, at home again, now its home. I just need everybody to come out and support me," Whitfield says.
Ticket sales have been steady. Some who missed last year's match at the James Brown Arena are looking for a TKO.
"I've never been to a professional boxing match, so i want to see the fighters. I'm hoping someone wins, maybe the guy from Augusta," Aarum Parnell says.
City leaders and arena officials say they are excited about the event. It will put Augusta in front of an international audience. ESPN will broadcast the fight into more than 95 million homes.
