One of the best this time of year, are the Lady Wildcats of Laney. No big shock they're right back in the state semifinals. Then again, this may be some what of a surprise considering they have one senior on the roster.

Laney will be off to Macon to take on defending champ Buford. It just happens to be the same team that knocked the cats out a year ago. While they might not have the most experience in the world, this team has a lot of intangibles, led by coach Smart, who just produces one winner after another. He knows these girls have the right stuff to get the job done.

"It seems that they're in the path every time we play" said coach Otis Smart "There's no way around it so we have to put on our best game and try to participate the best we can."

"Basically do what we've been doing and stay focused" said Mykala Jones "Take our time when we're playing and make good decisions. We have a positive attitude so we can stay focused and try to get to state."

In that game a year ago, Buford jumped out early and often in handing the Lady Wildcats a 16 point loss. Also hard to believe, Otis Smart has yet to win that elusive title

The girls won't be the only team in Macon as the boys are there as well in just their second ever trip to the state semifinals. Justin Durham has this team playing very, very good basketball as they're riding a 13 game win streak. While rod hall can steal the show, this is a team loaded from top to bottom that can run and gun with the best around. They're also one of the highest scoring teams around averaging 75 points a ballgame. They'll take on Greater Atlanta Chrsitian, a team coach Durham says they match up well with. Still, you have to bring the lunch bucket and play the full 32 minutes.

"We've got to come out and play well early" said coach Justin Durham "This is not a team you can come out and have a bad one minute, two minutes, three minutes against you. You've got to play them the full 32 minutes at your best basketball."

Laney girls tip off at four on Thursday, the boys won't play until 8:30 Thursday night in Macon.
