AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The Augusta State men’s basketball squad vaulted back into the top 10 of the national rankings Tuesday, coming in at No. 7 in the 11th NABC/Coaches Poll of the 2009-10 season, according to a release from the NABC national office in Kansas City, Mo.

The Jaguars posted a 3-0 record last week, defeating USC Aiken (73-59) at home on Wednesday, Feb. 3 and picking up road wins over Lander (81-54) and UNC Pembroke (82-77) on Feb. 6 and Feb. 8, respectively.

ASU earned the highest ranking in school history for any of the Jaguars 11 varsity sports on Tuesday, Jan. 12 when it moved up to No. 1 in the nation. The ranking also marked the first time in the Peach Belt Conference’s 20-year history that a men’s basketball team has been ranked No. 1 in the nation.

With the ranking, ASU has now appeared in the top 25 for a school-record 47 consecutive weeks, dating back to the 2006-07 campaign. The Jaguars have been ranked in the top 20 for 36 consecutive weeks and have appeared among the nation’s top 10 in 25 of the last 27 polls.
